In 1986, the company was purchased from Walter and Bob Morris by Valley Resources, the public utility holding company in Rhode Island. The union with Valley brought increased financial and managerial strengths to the company. Morris Merchants, Inc. (dba Walter F. Morris Company) currently operates out of a modern 40,000 Sq. Ft. warehouse in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Morris employs nearly 30 people with seven outside and three inside salespersons. In September of 2000 Valley Resources was purchased by Southern Union Gas. S.U.G. made a corporate decision to sell off any Valley holdings not considered Gas Utility Related. In October of 2001 The Morris Company was purchased by long time sales manager Joe McCarthy.
